What’s the Difference?
Cement, concrete, blasting sand. Unless you use them regularly you may not realize the difference and what they can all be used for. Fortunately, Willingham and Sons carries many bag products such as these and knows how to use them too. If you have any questions just ask a member of our team.
Mortar Mix – made from a blend of cement, sand and lime. Creates a bond between building materials as it dries. Most often used to bond bricks or cement blocks.
Portland Cement – most common type of cement used in construction projects. It is used to make concrete when mixed with water. Resistant to shrinking and cracking.
Concrete Mix – made up of cement, water and either sand or gravel. Strength is dependent on the ratios of ingredients used. Strong and durable while easy to use.
Blasting Sand – abrasive sand that comes in grade levels and is made from silicon dust. Can be used to remove paint or rust from hard surfaces.
